We are in shock! Did that really happen?
On Sunday August 27th we got to fulfil our dream of being Beyonce’s backup dancer! Sarah Alice Burns danced us through an experience of a lifetime learning about women empowerment and teaching us a Bey-licious routine.
Our day started with champagne and sweet treats and after indulging a little, we sat down and listened intently to Sarah talk about her journey of becoming Beyonce’s backup dancer. We also heard from F is for Dance founder Grace, speak about her business journey and the reason she started FIFD.
The panel discussion then shifted to the topic of women empowerment. Both Sarah and Grace spoke passionately about the society we live in today and the expectations for women on social media. The most important points that everyone took away from this were:
- Be yourself and own it!
- Don’t judge others, lift them up instead.
- You have the ability to do anything you set your mind to.
Feeling inspired, we were ready to dance and were all excited to hear that we would be learning the iconic Crazy In Love! Sarah taught us the technique behind the Beyonce strut and most enjoyably, explained how to twerk. Let’s just say the room erupted with laughter! The music was loud and the energy was high, we were encouraged as Sarah had us conquer our fears performing in front of each other.
As the workshop ended the selfie opportunities with Sarah began! We finished off with a refreshing juice from Inner Ego and everyone walked out of that room feeling confident, happy and empowered!
F is for Dance would like to say a huge thank you to the following #GIRLBOSSES who helped make this day what it was!
